An insight to the founders of the Esmeralda [manuscript], circa 1912-1950.

Typescript story, 7 pp., describing the overland journey of Rev. John E. Braly and his family. They briefly lived at Marcus Whitman's mission, leaving just days before the Whitman Massacre, 1847, and later mined for silver in California at the Esmeralda mines. The family eventually settled in Santa Clara County, California. Much of the content appears to have been taken from the 1912 autobiography of John Hyde Braly, son of Rev. Braly, titled "Memory Pictures."
